Personalized Student Advising Services
Student Advising Services are an integral part of the US-SLFC. We offer personalized services to students seeking educational opportunities in the U.S. We do not favor or promote any particular college or university nor do we endorse services provided by any organization in the areas of test preparation, admissions, placement, language training, or visa procurement. We believe that individuals should find the unique match for them and are dedicated to helping them find that match.
Fulbright Sri Lanka’s EducationUSA receives support from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. See the EducationUSA website for more general information on this program.
EducationUSA Services:
These sessions provide prospective students with general information on admission requirements, university selection, the application process (including keys to writing a good essay and requesting effective letters of recommendation), information on standardized tests (SAT/ACT/GRE/GMAT/TOEFL), and scholarship opportunities. Before students take off for America, we host a Pre-Departure Oreintation. We also host sessions on specific elements of the undergraduate application in line with the EducationUSA 5 Steps. Sessions cover undergraduate and post-graduate education. Prior registration is required for these free group sessions. Please check back regularly for a schedule of Study in the U.S. Sessions.
Our EducationUSA Student Adviser is available by appointment to assist students who need specific information or particular help on any part of the application process. Please email colombo@educationusa.org to schedule an in-person or virtual appointment. Appointments are typically required to be made at least two days in advance.
Please visit our offices (34 W.A.D. Ramanayake Mawatha, Colombo 2) from Monday through Thursday between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. The US-SLFC office is intended as a hub for students to engage in resource-sharing, collaboration, and co-working.
The US-SLFC authenticates academic transcripts, degrees, and other documents from accredited American universities. Please contact our office for this service. There may be a fee for some documents.
EducationUSA coordinates and participates in a variety of fairs, conferences, and events throughout the year. U.S. higher education representatives are invited to visit the EducationUSA Fair Portal to create an account and to access details and register to exhibit at upcoming student recruitment fairs.
