Group Orientation Sessions: These sessions are conducted in order to provide parents and prospective students general information on admission requirements, how to select universities/colleges, the application procedure, information        on standardized tests (SAT/ACT/GRE/GMAT/TOEFL), scholarship opportunities, etc.

  • Individual Advising Services: Once you have attended an orientation session you can meet with an adviser to enroll in our advising program which will take you through the required steps to apply to university.

  • Special Admission Preparation Workshops: The EducationUSA Advising Center conducts workshops on ‘Finding Scholarships/Financial Aid’, ‘Writing effective College Admissions Essays/ Statement of Purpose’ and ‘Writing effective Letters of Recommendation.’ All sessions are for both Undergraduates and Graduates and it aims to provide potential applicants with the necessary skills and techniques to produce a successful college application.
  • Reference Library: The US-SLFC’s library has an extensive collection of college/university guides, catalogues, application forms, CDs, videos, test preparatory material (SAT, ACT, TOEFL, GRE, GMAT) and reference books on various aspects of higher education in the U.S. The library can be accessed free-of-charge Monday to Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. For more information on registration and test centers click here
  • Visa Seminars: The US-SLFC conducts free Visa Seminars in collaboration with the consular section of the U.S. Embassy in Colombo. These sessions aim to help students to prepare for the U.S. student visa interview.  Prior registration required.
  • Pre-Departure Orientations: The US-SLFC conducts orientation for students who have obtained F,J,M  visas. The session aims to provide information on living and studying in the U.S.A., cultural issues, academic integrity and visa regulations. Prior registration is required if you wish to attend these sessions.
  • Computer Corner: Students have access to the internet and test preparatory software for the following exams: TOEFL, GRE, GMAT and SAT.
  • Authentication of Educational Documents: After careful scrutiny, the US-SLFC authenticates academic transcripts from local schools and accredited U.S and Sr Lanka universities.
  • Application Support: The EducationUSA advisers provide guidance on how to complete the common app, CSS profile as well as write college essays and SOPs
  • Outreach Activities: The EducationUSA advisers conduct outreach activities at local schools and universities. These awareness session cover the application process and better prepare students for the college admissions process.   • Education Fair: The annual EducationUSA South Asia Tour (University Fair) is hosted in September of each year. This Multicity tour gives students from all over Sri Lanka an opportunity to meet with U.S university representatives and obtain information first hand.
